Personality: Patli, to most people who meet him, is a cheerful young man, quick to smile and outgoing, if a little odd. He enjoys listening to people talk about themselves, but refrains from sharing much about himself. He tends to keep his personal life under wraps, and will avoid or ignore all attempts to delve too deeply it.

He would rather avoid confrontations if at all possible, and often gets walked all over in the process. His unwillingness to stand up for himself has led him to resent people, though he usually does a good job of not showing it. He knows that part of the blame rests on himself, but is not confident enough to do anything about it. Due to this, he has (more than a few times, actually) lost money by underselling his wares, doing favors and other such things. He tells himself that next time will be different, but that has yet to happen. He tends to be more receptive with helping others when you stroke his ego.

Confidence issues aside, he is an adept learner. When not collecting ingredients or working on his magic, can be found holed up in his cottage near the woods, buried deep into some tome. He loves to read about plants, and attempts to use his knowledge on earth magic to promote the growth of various herbs that he keeps in his home. It is not uncommon to find his hut overrun by flowering plants of some sort.

He is somewhat reckless, however, as a lot of the potions that he makes, he tends to test out on himself first. This has led to some rather unpleasant experiences, thus his eagerness to befriend people in the vain hope that if he's nice enough to some folks, they'll be willing to be his guinea pigs for whatever thing he's been working on. Unfortunately for him, most folks are aware of this, and are quick to decline any invitation to assist him with his endeavors. As he does not make enough money to hire anyone outright (the cost for any permanent damage to their bodies is well out of his budget), he's taken to sneaking certain things into food that he offers to people, keen on observing any potential side effects. This is often why he tries to get others to talk to him as much as possible, so that he may observe them longer.

While not necessarily malicious, he does know that this wouldn't sit well with most people, so his eagerness to share his methods for perfecting the latest potion is often nonexistent.

That isn't to say that there are not a few people he'd like to poison, but he'd hard pressed to deflect blame from himself when he's probably the one person in town who readily has the stuff on hand. (Not that he advertises this openly. That's what the black market is for.)

His temper will flare up if you make jokes at the expense of his precious Kiwi (his pet Pigbun).

History: Patli grew up in a rural village that had an unusually positive outlook on magic, being inhabited by other magic wielding folk like himself. Both parents were particularly adept at their craft, and expected nothing less from their son. Patli did not disappoint and, upon showing an affinity to plants in the garden, was taken under the tutelage of a resident mage specializing in earth magics. Patli thrived, and continues to look upon this time as some of the best years of his life.

As he grew older, he took to working at the local greenhouse, helping other mages grow the food there (and thus cementing his love for gardening and plants in general). Despite his love for what he did, he felt in a short while that there must be more that he could do with his talents. A lazy afternoon in the village library gave him such an opportunity when he came across a book on basic potion brewing. Fancying it as being no different from cooking at home, he took to experimenting, destroying half of his parent's kitchen in the process. With a bruised ego and bottom (as well as a ban from the kitchen lasting until, as his mother said, "your bones turn to sand"), he set about doing it in secret.

Rather, he liked to imagine it was in secret, but setting a tree on fire or causing all sorts of explosions due to incorrectly measured ingredients did nothing but inform the village folk that they really should avoid that part of the forest at all costs. A few villagers had the good sense to go there while Patli was off studying to render his preferred area of work inflammable. This is probably one of the only reasons the village still stands today.

Despite various hiccups in his study of potions, in time he found a knack for it (it's amazing what reading the instructions can do for you). When he finally came of age, he bid his parents farewell and set out to open a potions shop somewhere.

Unfortunately he lacked the good sense to properly arm himself before setting out, and was promptly robbed at knife-point some ways away from his home. Determined to still prove himself an adult, he continued on, ever thankful that his knowledge on plants prevented him from ingesting potentially fatal flora as he trekked his way across Grewkek. As he stopped by towns, he sold his services as a wizard to earn whatever coin he could to get by, before he finally found a place where he felt would be ideal for his work.

While he has found that he makes a fair bit of coin from potions of a restorative nature, poisons and their ilk have fetched a high price on the black market. While he doesn't necessarily believe that murder is right (giving someone explosive diahrrea would be far more entertaining), that hasn't stopped him from making and selling the stuff. He does, however, take care to ensure that an antidote does exist for each of the ones that he makes, in case someone ever tries to use it on him.

Dislikes: Bacon jokes, inquiries into what his pet must taste like, having an experiment backfire (usually horribly), people yanking on his ears, inappropriate misconceptions about elves

Additional Information:

-He has quite a few journals where he keeps track of all of his work.

-He draws plants rather well, and will sketch out any unfamiliar ones he comes across in one of the aforemented journals.

-He is not worried about how to hide a dead body (should the need arise), as he's quite certain he could make a fantastic fertilizer out of it.

-He treats Kiwi like his own child, and would be heartbroken if anything were to happen to her.

-As she is like his child, he will find a way to mess you up if you hurt her.
